BEAUTY: Clothing--Sibling

Sibling are as known for their chunky knits (not "jersey" but KNITS) as much as they are known for their playful, overscaled approach to their pieces and their London Collections: Men show for Fall-Winter '15-'16  had those elements in spades.

PINK! Everything pink: a rose colored look back at childhood with images of schoolboy uniforms (pin-striped jackets, ties, shorts and knee socks, and house scarves). But there was a fascinating detour away from pink with a biker jacket, a short suit, and trousers done in a material that looks like brown kraft paper. And what does that have to do with childhood? According to Joe Bates, Sid Bryan, and Cozette McCreery, the trio of designers who comprise Sibling, this refers to the brown paper bags with which they used to cover their school books. Cute and clever.

The childhood references continued with oversized Teddy Bears, either carried or worn as back packs, and pieces that looked like nightshirts. A shaggy synthetic fur, black and pink, referenced stuffed animals and childhood furry friends from long ago (and is paired with latex scarves!). But despite all the pink and theatrics, the collection, when broken down, contains some quite wearable pieces like the striped jackets, the grey/pink/black cardigans and sweaters, and the pink biker jacket! And honestly, a pair of those fuchsia ankle boots would be amazing with a pair of jeans, a tee, and a blazer...
