BEAUTY: Clothing--Misc. London Collections: Men

London Collections: Men was quite successful this year, seeing the return of Burberry to the land of its birth. British designers are returning home to England from Milan, now that there is a dedicated menswear event. London Collections: Men is still in its infancy but expect it to grow with each year.

Wrap-up for London Collections: Men
Interesting themes or details. Of note is the theme of luxe/tarted-up sportswear (extremely high-end b-ball), and an homage to the "saggy pant" phenomenon but done with a sly mix of fabrics and materials.

Astrid Andersen.
Sports attire in white sheer materials with lace inserts and mesh. Sort of like Victoria's Secret doing basketball clothes for gym rats.

Sibling.
More basketball wear but this time in fishnet and chain-stitch mesh.

Shaun Samson.
Yes, even more sports wear. But this collection had a California surfer vibe with models in platform sneakers which serve as versions of Vans, the surfer sneaker of choice. Towels wrapped around waists, post-surf. Sheer shirts. And silk organza boxers ( ! ) peek up over waistbands, in a nod to "saggy pants."

Christopher Shannon.
Also channeled the annoying "sagging" trend but with boxers in a tiny floral...take that, saggers. More sheer, coupled with PVC! Shannon's theme of his early club days manifested itself in the glittery blue, red, orange, and green hair on his models, whom he casts and styles himself!

Richard Nicoll
Porn stars on clothes? For the prints in question, Nicoll collaborated with the artist Linder Sterling who collaged snakes and birds with images of gay porn she found in a Barcelona bookshop. And more metallic and sheer.

Burberry Prorsum
Not sportswear!
I love a good scarf and this polka dot one looks super.
Nice unusual detail: mesh tank over shirt and tie.
