"Why Man Creates"

I adored this film when I was a kid. I remember my teachers showed it to us in grade school... I think I was in fourth, fifth and sixth grades, and we saw it once a year. Most of my classmates ignored it, slept, wrote notes to each other... but I sat and soaked it up. I loved the history of the world, the eggs holding anything but yolks, the exuberant ping-pong ball, and the beautiful, final sequence explaining why man creates. I learned about the value and the sacred, spiritual nature of creativity.

The film was conceived, written, produced, and directed by the legendary Saul Bass.
